American Sardine Bar

Transformed from a nuisance corner property into a thriving South Philly gastropub, American Sardine Bar is revitalizing Point Breeze. The building’s old bones are preserved and enhanced with LaSalle dorm mirrors, chalkboard walls, 1950s stools and booths, and original tile flooring.

American Sardine Bar’s backyard features a beer garden for warmer weather, with a dual purpose of keeping the kitchen stocked with herbs and vegetables to serve a range of American classics redefined. As the first sit-down gastropub in Point Breeze, American Sardine Bar contributes to the neighborhood’s distinct character and growing community.

American Sardine Bar has been ranked #1 on the 2015 Foobooz list of 50 Best Bars of Philadelphia.

“Neighborhood rebirth and gastropub-generated gentrification. That is the script that bar owner/developer John Longacre and his chef, Scott Schroeder, hope to reenact here, after taking over the former Wander Inn.” - Philly.com
